Portrait songs
Here are my “Portrait” songs… things I wrote for and about people I’ve known. Some are humorous, and some are straight up tributes. Here is a small sample.
This one is for our friend Randy, a burly bearded backwoods guy, as down to earth as they come, who lives to hunt. He used to bushhog our fields before I got a tractor, but continues to be our source for firewood, and the occasional gifts of venison and wild duck and turkey meat. This is him in a nutshell.
For Oscar… who lives on the outskirts of nowhere, never graduated high school, but is a true small engine savant. A real “character“ who keeps you entertained while he magically repairs any two-stroke or four-stroke engine in no time, right before your very eyes.
I’ve got quite a few in Tennessee, and they know who they are. One guy down the street will drop what he’s doing to help you out, whenever, wherever, no matter what. Folks like this are a true blessing.
For a good good friend, who is forced to sleep two stories away from his loving spouse because of the nocturnal sounds he generates… or so he is told.
